Logging in in safe mode and uninstalling Avast anti virus (I use it for extra cover when using dodgy websites), this got me logged and made me realise my keyboard is working perfect in Safe Mode, now I need a solution if I'm to use my computer in a professional capacity.

Sierra has just had a big issue when it froze apps so I restarted and it wouldn't let me login (keys worked infrequently and the return acted as an entry in the password, upon pressing the arrow the password wouldn't accept). A key won't work so I hit it again and it works. Ive noticed minor keyboard issues when using Photoshop, almost like the keyboard is going bad.

Ive got a keyboard problem with Sierra but nothing repetitive. Hopefully someone associates it with the underlying problem. I am trying to describe the issue with maximum accuracy here. But not on the second login screen (the one that also comes on after just waking the device).

It seems that at first the OS recognises the keyboard correctly and then for some reason 'switches' back to the wrong settings.Īdditionally both Apple keyboards work fine on the first login screen after a full system restart.

Those symptoms are identical on both the built-in MBP keyboard and the bluetooth keyboard.īut none of them occur on the simplest external USB keyboard (which I had to set-up manually as it wasn't recognised by the system on connecting).Īnd on the bluetooth keyboard the symptoms only start a couple of seconds after connecting the device. the issue is consistent across different keyboard layouts. pressing the physical 'i' gives an 'h' on virtual keyboard (and vice versa) pressing 'a' on physical keyboard doesn't 'push' any buttons on the virtual keyboard / no key on the physical keyboard strikes the virtual 'a'

I also checked the keyboards (built-in & Apple bluetooth) with the on screen keyboard viewer. Unfortunately my problem seems to go deeper than simple system settings (and I've checked them all before starting this thread).
